What made you decide to get your first tattoo?

Hi everyone, I was walking along near the sea yesterday, trying to remember the first time i saw a tattoo - and I wondered how far back everyone else's memories went, and thought I'd ask what made you get your first?

I got my first done just to see what my parents would say so i could go get the other one ... Weird I know ,,, but I still love my first ...

I haven't actually had my first done yet, still in the planning stages. The actual work will likely be this summer, on the anniversary of my nephew's death. He is the reason behind it, and it is likely the only one I will ever get.
I don't know that I remember the very first time I saw one... They aren't/weren't very common where I grew up, and there is still a lot of prejudice against it. The vast majority of my family will likely never know I got it. They wouldn't truly accept it, even if they understood it.

my very first tatt, i got with my bestfriend, we both wanted a tattoo to reprasent our friendship and we decided on a small music note with 3 tiny notes around it, i got mine on ankle and with purple in it and she got heres on her wrist with pink in it, it means a lot to both of us Emotion: smile

and the first tattoo i ever remember seeing is my mums, she has roses on her chest in with vines and mine and my brothers name - i used to love sein it when i was little

The first tattoo I ever saw was my Boompa's old school tat. It was a rose with a banner that said "Mother". I now have the exact same piece of flash (the ONLY flash I will ever get) on my should, with "Boompa" written in the banner.

My first tattoo however, is the lilies on my leg. I got them to represent my personal growth, especially since it is a tattoo that has so far taken over two years to complete, furthering the meaning and purpose behind it.

The first tattoo i ever remember seeing was my dad's. He has an eagle with the words "Flyin high" written above it. >_< Cheesy, i know, right? Haha.

The first professional tattoo i ever got was the stars on my left hand/fingers. It's still my favorite piece and i don't regret getting such a visible tattoo.

My first EVER tattoo is on my back, between my shoulder blades. It's says "Lust for Life" (it's an Iggy Pop song) and my best friend did it with a sewing needle and india ink. It's crooked and splotchy and overall, pretty shitty, but i'll never get it covered up just because it was my first ever. Haha.
