Beginning tattoo equipment.
I am going to start tattooing. I have an extensive artistic background that ive always wanted to take into a tattooing career. There isnt anywhere in my area available for an apprenticeship so im just gonna go it on my own. I realise that this is not the ideal situation, but whatever, thats not the point of this post. Im wondering if anyone could recommend what sort of equipment i should buy to start out with. Im looking for something reasonably priced but good quality. Im willing to pay slightly more for a better quality machine. Could anyone please recommend a particular brand of equipment? Also a good brand of ink to start with? And if its not too much trouble, if someone could compile me a list of everything i should get to start out. Quantity, all that. I have a general idea what im doing (my best friend was an apprentice before being untimely incarcerated) and intend to ask around and find any books i can on the subject. I know sterile technique and all that jazz and am schedualed to take a bloodborn pathogens course at the local community college. Thanks tons who anyone willing to help me out with this! -Lady

Thin lines, constant dipping, dragging...
Hey everyone I have recenly purchased a tatoo it from thetttooshop.co.uk and have been attempting to practice with it on grapefruit and a practice skin, for some reason I have to keep dipping to top up the ink on the needle every few seconds, the lines I do are very thin, and if i try to press a little harder in hope of getting a better line the needle tends to drag so I get the feling it is not getting the right depth, the needle I am using is a 5 needle round liner so i understand it will be quite thin but the 3 needle liner I used did seem to be a little thicer than this, I dont know what im doing wrong but it is not going very smoothly atall. p.s I dont know if its needle depth but I have followed all the tips such as when setting up the needle should barely show from the tube. Any tips Ideas welcome
