...I did! 20 years ago I bought a kit from Huck Spalding and taught myself to Tattoo. It has been a very fun and lucrative career. I am now selling beginner kits online with my compilation of teaching aids that I have accumulated over the years. My CD set 'Tattooing for the Beginner' has 8 videos, over a dozen 'How To' books, and hundreds of Flash designs you can print yourself. Go to www.newtattoosupply.com and check out the great value I offered there. Thank you for your interest and GOOD LUCK! SpiderMan

Hello, I am contacting everyone I can track down who was a part of RAB in the nineties, before BME became a community site, to help me write an article about RAB. As a Modblog author, the one feature I enjoy doing the most is "From The Vault". For those of you not familiar with those post, they are based on old pictures and old stories from before Modblog began and they are intended as a way to help educate the youngsters and remind the rest of us where we came from. I am going to provide a few questions/ topics to talk about. Feel free to respond to as many or as few as you like. Also, if anyone has any pictures from old munches or any other RAB related photos, I would love to include them. -Your name and/or online handle. -What do you do for a living (then and now)? -How did you find RAB? -What affect did/does RAB have on your life? -Did any of your online friends become real life friends (obviously this is true for many, but please go into details)? Are you still friends with any of them? -Did you attend any munches, if so please tell us about them. -If you do not still post on RAB, why not? -How did RAB differ from other online body arts community sites, such as IAM? -One can not talk about the old RAB days without mentioning Keith Alexander, if anyone has any stories or insights about him they would like to share, please do. The questions provided are just a few suggestions of topics, feel free to add anything you like. I will be using peoples quotes and answers as the majority of the article, so any input would be very appreciated. Also, if you are still in contact with any nineties RAB users who I may have not been able to track down, please feel free to forward this to them. Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear back from you soon. Sean Philips You can email your responses to (Email Removed)

hey RABbits, my brother in law's a tattoo artist and has been lamenting that he can't get pelican ink in large bottles - just the small ones that cost a small fortune. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on how Canucks in Ottawa might be able to get their hands on some. thanks in advance. ta squib

Hi there, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good place to get vertical lobes done in Manhattan? I recently moved back and have no idea which of the studios are good. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate suggestions and comments about the following: 1- Are there any alternatives to henna and jagua as far as temporary tattoos are concerned? I'm thinking maybe coloring type pens that are safe to use on skin and would last a while, say a week or more - do such things exist? 2- What would happen if one used tattoo inks as regular paint, on the surface of the skin? How long would that last? Has anybody tried it? 3- What's the easiest way to transfer a design from paper to the skin as guidelines to the final tattoo design? Thanks all in advance. LW

Is this pretty common/normal? I had a ring put through my eyebrow last Friday and everything seemed okay until this morning, when I woke up with a right shiner. It doesn't hurt - but it looks like it should. I'm a piercing newbie (only had a couple of rings in my earlobe up until now), so my apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. I'm probably worrying about nothing here but I'd like to check it out just to be on the safe side as it's been playing on my mind. I had my ear pierced a couple of days ago and whilst the piercer was preparing his equipment, he sneezed (dry sneeze) on the back of his hand. As this was a tough guy biker type place and I felt a bit intimidated by all the fierce-looking hairy guys hanging out there, I didn't want to look like a wuss, so I didn't insist that he went to wash his hands (yes, in hindsight that was really *** dumb). Apart from that, he seemed to be using correct sterilization procedure. He put on his disposable gloves (over the just sneezed-on hand) and carried out the piercing using sterile equipment. Is there anything really nasty or serious he could have transmitted to me through the piercing via the sneeze (aside from me possibly catching his cold)? I just need my mind putting at rest really. I will be more careful in future. Thanks.

A couple of years ago I got drunk and angry and gave myself a couple of cigarette burns on my upper arm, which left two pale, circular scars. I have now decided that I would like to cover these up and I have an idea for a tattoo that would be perfect for this area. Does anyone know if it is actually possible to tattoo over burn scars such as this and if there are any problems that I may encounter? Ta. It should be illegal to circumcise anyone under the age of 18 or 21. Body modification against unwilling recipients is mayhem. People under age 18 do not have the ability to consent to such extra-ordinary body modification. So while adults might generally be free to modify their own bodies as they please, it is wrong illegal mayhem to modify the bodies of unconsenting individuals such as minors, a crime which carries a penalty of up to life in prison in some places. Certainly some cases such as birth deformities, accidents, and medically necessary surgery are exempt. The only question is when is a birth deformity bad enough to require extensive body modification. Some person could be born with a truly abnormally big nose which could be considered a deformity. Another person might just want a nose which was more aesthetically pleasing. It is possible this could be a passing whim.. we've seen what multiple nose jobs have done to Michael Jackson. While irreversible body modifications such as tongue splitting and circumcision should be illegal on minors under the age of 18, reversible body modification such as piercings can probably be exempt. But tattoos should probably be illegal.. It may still be somewhat of an unanswered issue. While teenagers can give more consent than a baby, they are still minors making decisions which can affect the whole of their lives, and worse they may be pressured by their parents to undergo unnecessary body modification. While on the one hand some teenagers might want plastic surgery to improve their lives in school which can set the course of their lives, on the other side of the issue, we may see what too many nose jobs has done to Michael Jackson. In the case of circumcision there is no reason why a teenager cannot wait until they are over 18, or even 21 to decide to have this irreversible procedure performed. And it is absolutely immoral and wrong to perform it on an unwilling baby who has no say in the matter.
