A German leader once asked a similar question about the early Teutons.

You're good at Google. Did you know who Bradshaw was before you now have to go Google his name? See, I've figured you out Curt. As long as you can Google, you think you can appear intelligent. Here's a hint about Bradshaw. Your inner child is as lame as your present self.

CJ> Streamline.
"Don't Top post" does not require anyone to go to a different site. "That" is streamlined.

And by the way, here's a little bit of advice. No matter what, even if you could make me look like the dumbest, ugliest, meanest, etc. person on RAB, your position in the pack will never change.

Interestingly, a number of US Marine Scout-Snipers have that tattoo, for obvious reasons.

Aquatic DubMonkey:
I was born in America. If you have ever lived here, which I'm doubting you have from your post, you would know that most Americans don't see their nationality and ancestry/ethnicity as being one and the same. That is a fact of life that comes with living in a country that is just over 200 years old, and is a melting pot of cultures. Not to mention the fact that a good portion of us have grandparents, or great grandparents who were born in Europe (or elsewhere) and still speak their native tounge and live in the same manner they did in Europe, while living in America.

People "there" are surrounded by their history on a daily basis. Here we our surrounded by bubblegum pop culture, and a mainstream media that encourages attitudes similar to what you're saying, that our past doesn't matter. I'm not down with that belief.

I don't understand what you're trying to say.
You should read the book Europe at the year 1000. I'm sure many people here could direct you to some more interesting info., but this is one I found particularly fascinating.
Yes I'm looking for pre-Christian tattoos. Also, here is a little tidbit I found online regarding Vikings tattoos:

Still, we know that the Viking Rus at least wore tattoos, for the Arabic observer Ibn Fadlan says in his Risala:

§ 81. Each man has an axe, a sword, and a knife and keeps each by him at all times. The swords are broad and grooved, of Frankish sort. Every man is tattooed from finger nails to neck with dark green (or green or blue-black) trees, figures, etc.

The Arabic word for the color of the tattoos can mean green, blue or black. Almost certainly these were dark blue tattoos, created using wood ash as the dyeing agent.

Ibn Fadlan calls the designs "trees", but it is highly likely that he is actually describing knotwork patterns that were so common in Viking art.

Yes, Kavin, I am.

However nothing in the post you reply to here came from a Google search. Mailgate has a nice sequence. One post follows another, so it was easy to see what Corine had written. And, for your information, (HEY, CAROL, LOOK! NO FYI! BETCHA WERE EXPECTIN' AN FYI!) I first heard of Bradshaw when I was 19 and dating a girl who attended the local Brethren in Christ church.

The church played a videotape of Bradshaw's where he spoke of marriages being like roller coasters.
Did you know who Bradshaw was before you now have to go Google his name? What? You're not making sense.

Did I know who Bradshaw was when I read your post or did I have to Google his name? Is that what you were wondering?

And you say that you're not playing my game. P'shaw!

Know the answer before asking the question, Kavin. I knew who Bradsaw was before Google existed.

But, yeah, Google does rock and so...
September 7, 1998. I had just turned 36. I said I was 19 when I first heard of Bradshaw. That'd make, well, you do the math, but Brin and Page wouldn't begin work on BackRub for more than a decade.
Wrong.

Again.

How you spend your time is not my concern, of course, but it's obvious, once again, that you have /not a lot/ figured out. I commend you for trying, though.
Google is a wonderful tool, but I'm fine without it, thank you vurry much. Maybe I'm being a - how did you phrase it? - "bid narcistic"?
Cool.
No. It's a directive without instruction.

You said that if the person wanted to change their behavior or if they needed help then they could ask you. You're not their mom. Remember?

By requiring them to ask for assistance, you're making an additional step necessary. Streamline.

Don't top post. http://rabbithole.org /

See?

Offer that boring directive, but instruct as well.

Or not. Hey, it's your nickel. Post as you wish. I'll do the same. See how that works?
Dumbest, ugliest, meanest? Why would you say something like that? Why would you bring that to the conversation? Have I hurt your self esteem?

You, like many, have a few problems with spelling, but that's no indication of intelligence, so don't worry yourself. And you trip up now and then with a typo or two.

Hey, we have that in common. I "misspelled" (typo) my name and you offered Kevin recently instead of Kavin. Is Kevin your real name or was that a typo? Never mind. I rescind the question.

Ugliest? I've never commented on your appearance, have I? I don't know what you look like. I remember, if only vaguely, a description of you by another RABbit, but it really didn't stick. I'm not concerned at all with your looks, Kavin. Again, no worries.

And you are certainly NOT the meanest. Please.

In fact, today, I would go so far as to say that there are no mean people here. Abrupt, direct, forthright. Some ignorant, but that's not a pejorative necessarily.

Whatever.

Corine says you are kind. Be content with that and don't fear that I'm attempting to make you look mean. I'm not.

You are what you are. I am what I am.

(Where's me spinach?)

I'm not interested in the pack, Kavin. I'm interested in bodyart. It's fun to argue at times, but I'm not always the one picking the fight. Did I with you?

I don't remember. Why don't you Google that?
