Apparently he's the oldest son of the hayashi family - I found this at http://blog.livedoor.jp/hadaeshi/

Born in Okayama in 1976, the oldest son of the infamous Hayashiya family spent his early childhood learning the enjoyment of sketching figures and comics on A4 size notes, leaving behind his own distinctive pictures and drawings.
Junior high brought new influences—most notably, his father who held a high-ranking position in the family crime syndicate, in a Japan that held fast to certain image preconceptions—misunderstood preconceptions held by ordinary people who didn’t fully understand, and were thus highly opposed to tattoos. He was raised in such a world, finding renewed interest in the classic works of legendary ukeyoe woodblock artists like Katusika Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi. During this particular revival, he took particular interest in self-study into the literary and artistic world of Suikoden.
Then, 20 years later, an epiphany. A simple artistic piece done on the underside of a friend’s skateboard, turned his eyes to the path of tattoo artistry, and to two generations of masterful tattoo artistry, left behind on the body, moved to study under Horigen to learn his artistic trade.

Twenty-three years, and now I, Sou Shu, have earned my independence as a traditional Japanese tattoo artist, and am currently leaving behind that historic character and style on the bodies of my clients.

I’ll personally mix the ink. I will shave the bamboo, and sharpen the needles. The draft of the design is personally mine. I’ll personally perform every aspect of the tattooing, and finally leave you with historic, yet original, artistry.
