RE: Bad SA experience at B&BW page 4This is a discussion thread · 103 replies Cineabeagle: I always say "No, thanks, just browsing." Always works for me.If that SA had done that to me I probably would have laughed at her and walked out. (mentally unstable much?) Don't waste your precious energy on it, and don't give it another thought. Just go back in, get what you need and ignore her. I liked what one poster said about ignoring everything else after "No thank you" because they couldn't possibly be talking to her after that point. Gonna try that. Good logic. Lee

I especially don't want to be sprayed by anyone.

Brenda: >Sorry - for whatever reason I can't start a new thread. Can anyone tell me about the ipod, how easy it is to use, if it can be used in the car and if so how. I'm curious to hear what you like about it..a guy in my DH's office is going to Japan next month and can get them for about $100. DH asked if I want one for my bday - I love music but I don't really know what it is. FWIW, I have an mp3 player for the gym and that is usually when I get to listen to music. Thanks, Brenda P.S. to the original poster - once you declined a sales pitch, she should have politely backed off and told you to find her if you changed your mind and needed assistance "Life is what happens while we're making other plans" - John Lennon

CoFarb: [nq:1]> Sorry - for whatever reason I can't start a new thread. Can anyone tell ... if you changed your mind and needed assistance "Life is what happens while we're making other plans" - John Lennon[/nq]I have a 30 gig ipod. It replaces my Nomad 2 mp3 player. In many respects the ipod is amazing. It holds so much music at such a high quality that I will never run out of space. Indeed the temptation is to load it with so much stuff that just sorting through the files could become a daunting task. What they don't tell you: you need to have a "firewire" plug on your computer or you have to buy a firewire-to-usb adaptor which is available from Apple but does not appear to be readily available in the same retail outlets where you are likely to buy the ipod. I spent $50 adding a firewire card to my computer. Most newer computers have such an outlet installed already. You can use the ipod in your car if you have a tape player in the car. Apple sells the kit but you can get one a lot cheaper. I have one of those adaptors that looks like a cassette tape but with a wire attached; the other end of the wire is a small plug which fits into a hole on the ipod. I've tried it; it works. I'm pretty sure you can get these adapters at places like Radio Shack. NOTE: to use the ipod this way, the ipod has to be turned on, draining its batteries. FURTHER NOTE: The ipod does not have an exterior power source option at present. You cannot insert a fresh set of batteries at will; you must be running it from its internal rechargeable battery or, perhaps, from another source with an adapter plugged into your cigarrette lighter. (I don't have such an adapter so I don't know if one exists; I also don't know if you can run the ipod directly from alternating current sources via its recharger.) This battery thing is the biggest drawback I've encountered with the ipod. If you are on a long trip, spending hours on a plane or such, your ipod will run out of power. You can't take it on a camping trip or into the jungle or wherever if you don't have a power source from which you can recharge it. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me. cofarb

It's new and I love it, but don't know who the band is. My kids don't either, I already asked them, well, at least my DD doesn't know. I need to ask my 20 y/o. He'd know.

ami kio: On 10/31/03 6:18 AM, in article[nq:1]> Sorry - for whatever reason I can't start a new thread. Can anyone tell ... have an mp3 player for the gym and that is usually when I get to listen to music. Thanks, Brenda[/nq] I'm a bit surprised. IIRC, Apple products are the same price or more expensive in Japan. Are you sure it's the ipod and not some other type of mp3 player? Anyway, it's easy to use if you have a Mac (don't know about a PC). It can be used in the car, but you have to buy/install a device for/in your car. It's fabulous for exercising (light) and travel (enough music to last any trip, the only problem is that the battery runs out before you run out of music). However, if you already have an mp3 player for your one use of an mp3 player and aren't dissatisfied w/ it, it isn't worth it. ami

I *do* love how light the ipod is though attachments obviously make it bulkier. I use my ipod with a pc and find it very easy to use. cofarb, who is planning to take her ipod to the endodontist for distraction during an upcoming root canal
